The oppression of the tourism in Portugal

Azores

More tourists than population in Porto and Lisbon

A study by the Tourism Planning and Development Institute (IPDT) measured the relationship between residents and tourists in several European cities and concluded that the two largest Portuguese cities are reaching saturation point.

The president of the IPDT, Jorge Costa, says that it is necessary to study ways of developing this activity in other regions of the country.

After 2017 has been a historic year for tourism in Portugal, industry players believe that 2018 will be even better, although factors such as Brexit and last year's fires may have a negative impact on results. The expectations are high.

The journalist Marta Pacheco tells what reveals a barometer to present this Wednesday by the IPDT.

The Azores are the region with the greatest potential for growth.
